Brevo Pricing (2026)
A plain-English breakdown of every Brevo plan, per-email pricing, and honest verdict against Mailchimp and Klaviyo.
Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) prices by emails sent per month, not by contact count — the reverse of Mailchimp. The Free plan sends 300 emails/day forever with unlimited contacts. Starter starts at $9/month for 5,000 emails/month; Business is $18/month for 5,000 emails; Enterprise is custom.
This guide walks through what you get at each tier, the SMS and transactional add-on costs, and whether Brevo beats Mailchimp on real per-month cost for your list shape.
Brevo plans at a glance (2026)
Brevo's tier structure is unusual — unlimited contacts on every plan (including Free), priced by emails sent per month. That is the opposite of Mailchimp's contact-based pricing.
The Free plan is unusually generous. 300 emails per day with unlimited contacts covers real business use — a monthly newsletter to a 3,000-contact list would fit comfortably. For most SMBs starting out, Free is genuinely enough.
- Free — 300 emails/day (~9,000/month), unlimited contacts, basic features.
- Starter — $9/month for 5,000 emails; $18/month for 20,000 emails; $29 for 40,000; scales up.
- Business — $18/month base for 5,000 emails with advanced automation, A/B testing, landing pages.
- Enterprise — custom pricing, dedicated IP, SSO, dedicated support.
- SMS — priced per SMS by country (~$0.01 to $0.05/message).

Per-email breakpoints on Starter and Business
Starter and Business tiers both scale by monthly email volume, not contact count. Approximate 2026 breakpoints on Starter: $9/month for 5,000 emails, $18 for 20,000, $29 for 40,000, $65 for 100,000, roughly $10 to $20 more per additional 20,000 emails.
Business tier adds automation, A/B testing, and landing pages for approximately $9 to $15/month more at each email volume.
For a business with a big list that sends infrequently (e.g., 50,000 contacts, one email/month = 50,000 emails/month), Brevo is dramatically cheaper than contact-priced tools like Mailchimp.
- 5,000 emails/mo — $9 (Starter), $18 (Business).
- 20,000 emails/mo — $18 (Starter), $29 (Business).
- 100,000 emails/mo — $65 (Starter), $80 (Business).
- 300,000 emails/mo — $175+ (Starter and up).
SMS and transactional email costs
SMS on Brevo is priced per message by country — approximately $0.01 to $0.05 per SMS in North America and Europe.
Meta bills the WhatsApp Business Platform on a per-message basis, replacing the older conversation window model as of July 1, 2025. Brevo passes Meta's per-message rate through to your balance alongside a small markup. Service messages and non-template replies sent within an active 24-hour customer service window are always free. Utility and authentication template messages are also free inside that same window and only start costing money once you send them outside it, while marketing template messages are charged every time, window or not.
Rates vary by destination country and template category. As a representative baseline, United States marketing messages ran roughly $0.02 to $0.03 per message in early 2026, while authentication messages often cost near or under a cent each. Confirm current per-country rates directly on Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform pricing page.
Transactional email (receipts, password resets) is included on all paid plans up to plan limits; overage is per-email at low rates. This is a real advantage over Mailchimp, which requires Mandrill (a separate paid add-on) for transactional.
- SMS — ~$0.01 to $0.05 per message by country.
- WhatsApp: per-message pricing since Jul 2025, free inside the 24-hour service window for utility/authentication messages, marketing messages always charged.
- Transactional email — included in paid plans, cheap overage.
The pricing math: when Brevo beats Mailchimp
Brevo's emails-sent pricing wins for big-list-low-send businesses. A 50,000-contact list emailed twice a month (100,000 sends) costs approximately $80/month on Brevo Business. The same list on Mailchimp Essentials costs approximately $300+/month.
Mailchimp's contact-based pricing wins for small-list-high-send businesses. A 2,000-contact list emailed weekly (~8,000 sends/month) costs approximately $18/month on Mailchimp Essentials versus $18 to $29/month on Brevo Starter — close, but Mailchimp includes more templates.
Do the math on your actual list-to-send ratio before committing. Both offer meaningful free tiers to test.
- 50,000 contacts, 2 sends/month → Brevo ~$80 vs Mailchimp ~$300.
- 2,000 contacts, 4 sends/month → Brevo ~$18 vs Mailchimp ~$18.
- Big list, low frequency → Brevo wins. Small list, high frequency → Mailchimp wins.
Is Brevo worth it for a small business?
For SMBs with big lists and low send frequency, or for anyone needing native SMS + transactional + marketing email in one platform, Brevo is a genuinely good deal. Free covers real business use; Starter or Business at $18 to $65/month covers most SMB scale.
For ecommerce brands running email + SMS revenue programs at scale, Klaviyo is usually the better tool despite the higher price. Its Shopify integration and revenue attribution justify the premium for revenue-focused ecomm.
For creators and newsletter operators, Kit (ConvertKit) is a better fit — its creator-focused automations and Commerce features are absent from Brevo.
- SMB with big list, low send frequency → Brevo wins on cost.
- Need SMS + email + transactional in one → Brevo is uniquely good.
- Serious ecomm → Klaviyo is better despite premium price.
- Creator business → Kit is a better fit.
